A gourmet tour discovering the soul of Valpolicella, the excellent wine and the beautiful landscapes from the vineyards to Lake Garda.

Valpolicella Territory

Located a few kilometers north of Verona, Valpolicella is known all over the world for its famous wines, especially Amarone DOCG.

The name Valpolicella is most likely of Roman origins from the Latin phrase Valle poli cellae, which means “valley of the many cellars,” proving the ancient winemaking traditions of this area.

Although Valpolicella is known all over the world for its famous wines, especially Amarone, the territory is a lot less known. It is a beautiful landscape of gentle hills that grow into mountains as you move north, valleys with old villages, gorgeous villas and medieval churches, making it a tourist destination in its own right.

  • Day 1: Morning

Private Guided Winery Tour at Zenato Winery

Founded in 1960, Zenato owns seventy-five hectares (185 acres) of vineyards in Lugana and Valpolicella and focus on making award-winning Lugana DOC and Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG.

Zenato’s wine exemplify the founder’s passion for the land and its history, his respect for the environment, and a devotion to a family tradition that has valued local grape varieties for half a century.

Your tour begins with a guided visit of the winery, led by the winemaker, who will share the unique process of making Amarone and Ripasso della Valpolicella.

At the end of the tour, you will enjoy a private and guided wine tasting of four Zenato’s iconic labels:

    - Lugana DOC Metodo Classico Brut
    - Lugana DOC San Benedetto
    - Ripassa Valpolicella Ripasso DOC Superiore
    - Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG Classico

  • Day 1: Lunch

Antica Osteria Paverno, a run-family restaurant with a long tradition, offers its customers the opportunity to rediscover the traditional Venetian dishes, always different depending on the season, cooked with harmony by Paola.

Thanks to Lucio, a skilled sommelier, you can accompany “his” wine to each dish to arrive at what is commonly called “the paradise of the palate”. The dining room, very accurate, with “exposed stone” walls, fireplace and rustic setting in winter and on the outdoor terrace, called “La Pergola” in summer.

Here on hot sunny summer days and not only you can enjoy a hilly breeze almost always present, in the shade of the vineyard that covers almost the entire surface and breathe clean air and country scents.

    - 3-course meal, dishes of choice: 1 starter, 1 first course or main course, 1 dessert
    - Wine pairing not included, to be paid seperately to the restaurant

  • Day 1: Afternoon

Private Guided Winery Tour at Costa Arente Winery

Situated halfway between Grezzana and Romagnano, the winery rests atop a ridge, at a height of 250 meters, with vineyards fanning out on three sides and a magnificent view of Valpolicella and Verona. A single area that stretches for 35 hectares, of which 17 are vineyards and the rest are woods and olive groves. The grapes grow on hilly slopes, including terraced ones that rise up to 600m.

Costa Arènte thrives in the charm of nature and breathes in the history of the nearby Villa Arvedi and Villa Pellegrini. The estate is enclosed within the marvelous microcosm of Valpantena, with its numerous trails for trekking, horseback riding or cycling. The production area is perfectly integrated with the surrounding environment. Despite its size, the drying loft is in perfect harmony with nature – shielded by stone walls and enclosed by a row of cedar trees – standing on a meadow sown with honey-yielding essences.

All vineyard operations are carried out manually. The grapes are harvested and processed by hand when the tannins are perfectly ripe. Production favors native varieties and is limited, due to the low yield and the typically artisanal management of the vineyard. A choice that allows the quality of the grapes and the minerality of the soil, rich in calcareous marl and nutrients that guarantee high and constant level of acidity, to be transferred into the bottle, giving the wines a natural elegance and excellent aging capacity.

The tour ends with a tasting of 5 of the most iconic wines of Costa Arente.
