White Truffle hunting, Barolo wine, unparalleled cuisine and UNESCO World Heritage vineyard landscapes.

White Truffle hunting

Just as Barolo is the King of Wine, the Alba White Truffle reigns supreme over the fungi kingdom. This is the most famous truffle in the world. It even has its own annual festival each fall that draws an international crowd interested in the gastronomic delicacies of Piedmont.

Barolo

Barolo is iconic. It is the “wine of kings, the king of wines,” and the vineyard landscapes of this area are just as stately. In fact, the vineyards were recognized in 2014 as a UNESCO World Heritage for the centuries of viticulture that has shaped the landscapes and customs of this stunning region. The territory of Barolo is nestled in the foothills of the Alps in southern Piedmont. Explore the most prestigious crus, where the vines grow in neat rows, and the historical wineries that have turned this wine into one of the world’s most prized labels.

  • Day 1: Morning

    White Truffle Hunting

There is nothing more ubiquitously Italian than truffle.

It goes hand in hand with the country’s great wine. Just as Barolo is the King of Wine, the Alba White Truffle reigns supreme over the fungi kingdom. This is the most famous truffle in the world. It even has its own annual festival each fall that draws an international crowd interested in the gastronomic delicacies of Piedmont.

Spend a few hours hunting for this grand prize with a local trifulau, a truffle hunter, and his canine sidekick in the fields and woods of the Langhe. You will be accompanied by the seeker and by the sense of smell of his reliable dog to discover completely new places and scents. The search for the truffle consists in an adventure to discover everything that revolves around the world “truffle”: from myths to legends, and then again the training of the dog and the little secrets of the “trifulau” - which in dialect means “seeker of truffles”.

This activity has a very precise periodicity that runs from October to December and requires more sporty clothing, since the hunting grounds are more impervious and the walk is longer.

    DURATION: 2h / 2h and 30 min

CLOTHING: we suggest you to wear sneakers or trekking shoes. We can put rubber boots and poles at your disposal to assist you in walking.

  • Day 1: Lunch

Truffle lunch in a typical Farmhouse

There is nothing better than lunch in a typical farmhouse that is about 200 years old and that has been renovated to meet all different needs...

This farmhouse was born as "the seeker's home", a rural setting rich in history and tradition.

    The proposed menu includes:

    - aperitif with homemade truffle products and Barbera wine salami
    - baked peppers with an accompanying sauce typical of Piedmont
    - tajarin pasta with white Alba truffle
    - fried egg with White Truffle of Alba
    - bunet (cocoa and amaretti pudding, baked in a bain-marie in the oven)
    - water, bread and breadsticks, Barbera wine and coffee

  • Day 1: Afternoon

Private Guided Winery Tour at Ceretto

The secret to success for Ceretto in Piedmont is owed to the exceptional soil and climate of the Langhe and the proprietors’ passion and wisdom to capture this quality in the wine. Ceretto is one of the most important wineries in the Langhe.

It is the tenacious passion of the two founding brothers that transformed the world’s perception of Barolo and the Langhe wine region. From their three fully-certified organic estates, Ceretto makes the region’s great wines: Barolo and Barbaresco. They have also been led by their faith in the territory, which is apparent in the winery’s deep ties to the community. They support various artistic and cultural ventures, including the 3 Michelin-starred Piazza Duomo and the Sol LeWitt and David Tremlett Chapel.

The tour will begin with a guided visit of their cellar, vineyards and production area and will delve into the history of the family and the winery. This will be followed by a premium tasting of four different Nebbiolo-based wines, including two single-vineyard labels, in one of their stunning private tasting rooms that overlook the surrounding vineyards and showcases the winery’s iconic L’Acino viewing room.

    Wine Tasting

    - Nebbiolo d'Alba DOC
