I am an Italian-American food journalist and the author of seven books on Italian home cooking, most recently “Preserving Italy: Canning, Curing, Infusing, and Bottling Italian Flavors and Traditions,” published by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt. Growing up, I spent my summers in Rome and on the Adriatic coast of Abruzzo, where my mom was born and raised. I now split my time between the U.S. and Italy.
